My most favorite oldest son, Jacob Jingleheimer, just informed me of a conversation that took place moments ago between Kendal and someone he was talking to on the phone.

Husband (talking on phone): “Will Round-Up kill poison ivy?”
Person on other end: “Whah whah whah” (We really have no idea what they said)
Husband (talking on phone): “Well, we found a ton of it in our yard.”
Person on other end: “Whah whah whah” (We really have no idea what they said)
Husband (talking on phone): Yea, the wife is allergic to it. I’m thinking about growing some on the front door.

Okay, he’s not THAT bad…

…but this commercial reminds me of Husband over the past few days (I think he has a sinus infection).

Lucky number 13

Dear Husband,

Today marks thirteen years since you and I stood before the Justice of the Peace at City Hall in Austin, Texas.

It was a Thursday. I had a terrible headache. We ate at the Olive Garden afterwards.

I remember how it felt to start out together. We were young. We were broke. It was terrifying.

But you were “the one”. Without a doubt in my mind, without a doubt in my heart, you were “the one”.

And now thirteen years have slipped by.

Some days are still terrifying. Our path is never clear. The road is often bumpy. But you are still “the one”. There is nothing I want more than to go on sharing everything on life’s journey with you.

Every morning when I wake up and your arms are around me, I think about how lucky I am.

Every afternoon when I pick the kids up from school and see how much they look and act like you, I think about how lucky I am.

And every night when I’m lying next to you in bed, I think about how lucky I am. Then you fart, and I think how incredibly annoying that is, but I’m still lucky.

I love you Kendal. I am so in love with you. And I am extremely proud to be your wife.

Love,
- Kim

I’m just sitting out here watching airplanes

Took husband to the airport this morning. He’ll be traveling to Taiwan, China and Singapore this trip (man, I really need to buy a map). He was in China for two weeks last year, and some of you may recall what an uneventful two weeks that was for ME. But this time he’ll be visiting a different part of China, as well as Taipei and Singapore. He won’t really be at any of his destinations for very long, plus he’ll be working, but I hope he’s able to do some sight-seeing. Kind of seems like it would suck, having to travel 14 hours by plane somewhere and not being able to see anything other than the inside of an office building.

* Sigh * I miss him already.

(And, for the record, I’m not really sitting out here watching airplanes. It’s freezing outside!)

Title totally stolen from Gary Allan’s song “Watching Airplanes”.

I hope it was worth it

Kendal's buckNot to be outdone by our 10 year old, husband finally got himself a buck this past weekend. The man has been gone to the hunting farm every weekend since September 22.

But finally, finally all of that beer drinking patience has paid off and he got “the buck”. “The buck” that is currently on its way to get head mounted to one day rest on a wall within my house to stare me down every time I walk into the room. Really, can a girl’s life get much better than that?

rosesThat husband guy of mine? Totally worth keeping. He came home at lunch with flowers for me, just because he thought I was sad.

Now I kind of feel bad for being unshowered and clad in sweats when he came home.

(Psssttt…thank you honey. I love you.)

That’s hot

Randomness, Wuv, twue wuv 1 Comment

Jacob Jingleheimer has been discussing a book about China in his reading class this week. Since Kendal was in China earlier this year, Jacob Jingleheimer volunteered his dad to come in and speak to the class about his experience. Kendal has been preparing all week long. He’s bringing Chinese currency, photos from his trip, a tea set, and a pair of chopsticks for each student so they can all try their hand at using chopsticks.

I never really had a thing for teachers, but there’s just something about the thought of Kendal up there, all authoritative, in front of all those fourth graders. It’s kind of hot.

They agree on one thing

Kendal announced that he was going to Gander Mountain and asked if anyone wanted to go.

Jacob Jingleheimer: “I’ll go”
Riley Coyote: “I don’t want to go”
Me: “I’d like to go, but I’ll stay here with Riley Coyote”
Kendal: “It doesn’t matter what he wants, Riley Coyote can go if you want to go”
Me: “But he’s mean to me when I make him do something he doesn’t want to do. He calls me ‘Fat Butt’.”
Kendal: “That’s not being mean, that’s…” (wisely trailing off before I throw my Smirnoff bottle at his head)
Jacob Jingleheimer: “That’s not being mean, Mom. That’s being HONEST.”
